‘No Wealth Creation for You’ Film and Discussion Series

Did you know that real estate agents, mortgage lenders, local and federal government all played a role in denying Black Americans the ability to buy homes throughout much of the 20th Century? Join Rob Edwards, a 2022 SFAR Board Member and expert in city planning/economic development, as he leads us in exploring the history of racial discrimination in lending, home sales, and urban planning through a film series on the third Wednesday of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. And, once you register, you can use the same Zoom link to join each week! Lunch & Learn: Realtor® Income and Housing Affordability

In 2021, SFAR's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee launched its first SFAR Membership Survey to understand the diversity and experiences of SFAR’s membership. More than 700 Association members provided responses on topics related to demographics, career, personal finances, as well as equity and inclusion.

Grab your lunch and join us on Wednesday, June 1st at noon as DEI Committee Vice Chair, Scott Okamoto, shares a new set of results from this survey. The focus: reported incomes by our members and how this contrasts with housing affordability in San Francisco. It's enlightening! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Libations, Light Bites + Film Screening (FREE for SFAR Members!)

  • Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Please join the San Francisco Association of Realtors® in collaboration with the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater for a screening of the Sundance darling and award-winning film, "The Last Black Man in San Francisco", with an intermission dialogue about racial equity, gentrification, and San Francisco.

Rarely does a film hit closer to the heart of our city and our profession. A trailer for the film is here.

Our venue is the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater - the cultural heart of the Bayview District and reputed to be the oldest theater in San Francisco. Built in 1888, it has just reopened after a $5.5M renovation.

Presented by the SFAR Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, this is the first of hopefully many evenings designed to appreciate thought-provoking art that inspires conviviality and conversation!

Come with open hearts, minds, and opinions. Light bites and libations from neighborhood cafes will be available starting at 5:00 p.m. Seating begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. and the event will finish at 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are FREE for SFAR members and just $20 for non-members! Seating is limited, so get your tickets today. The deadline for tickets is Thursday, March 31st.
